New Tools Support Progress in Climate Protection

How is climate action progressing in Jena? What concrete results have been achieved so far, and where is there still a need for action? A new digital climate monitoring system will provide answers to these questions in the future. With the ClimateView online dashboard,

climate protection measures and their impact on greenhouse gas emissions are presented in a clear, transparent, and traceable manner.

The new tool offers citizens, policymakers, and government officials an up-to-date overview of the status of climate protection activities in Jena. It shows how greenhouse gas emissions are trending in various sectors and which measures are contributing to the achievement of climate goals.

“Climate protection can only succeed if progress is visible and traceable. With this new climate monitoring system, we’re creating transparency about which measures are already having an effect and where we still need to make adjustments. This strengthens confidence in our climate protection strategy and, at the same time, provides a solid foundation for policy decisions,” says Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche.

Making Progress Visible

The digital dashboard presents extensive data in an easy-to-understand format, providing both a quick overview and in-depth insights. In addition to tracking the overall trend in greenhouse gas emissions in Jena, it also examines individual sectors such as buildings, transportation, and industry. This makes it possible to see which developments are already contributing to a reduction in emissions and where further action is needed.
Furthermore, the monitoring system documents the status of implementation of key climate protection measures and provides links to additional information.

A Foundation for Further Developing the Climate Action Plan

Climate monitoring serves not only to provide information but also to guide strategic decision-making. The data collected forms an important foundation for the further development of Jena’s Climate Action Plan and enables measures to be regularly evaluated and adjusted as needed.

Looking ahead, the dashboard will also present scenarios for different development paths. This will allow for better assessment of the impacts of further climate protection measures and the development of realistic target paths toward climate neutrality.

A Cornerstone of Jena’s Climate Strategy

The introduction of digital climate monitoring is part of the implementation of Jena’s Climate Action Plan. This plan aims to make Jena climate-neutral over the next few years. The dashboard supports the continuous monitoring of the measures’ effectiveness and provides a reliable data foundation for the administration, policymakers, and the city’s residents.

Climate monitoring will be continuously updated and expanded in the future. This will allow progress to be tracked regularly and new measures to be included in the analysis.

Climate Protection Agency Offers Energy-Saving Checks

Those interested can find out about the potential for climate protection in their own homes on the Climate Protection Agency’s website through the free energy-saving checks.

, another digital resource is now available: These easy-to-understand online tools provide a personalized initial assessment based on just a few details and offer recommendations on topics such as heating, renewable energy, and energy-efficient renovations. The online checks also serve as good preparation for a personal energy consultation, which can be scheduled with the Climate Protection Agency.
